Gut Health
by Dr. Christopher S. Deatherage N.D
Gut health refers to the balance of trillions of microbes in your digestive system that are vital for proper digestion, optimal immune balance, and optimal mental health. Destruction of our God-given beneficial bacteria causes overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria and yeast, and can be a cause of hundreds of illnesses.
We have seen numerous chronic illnesses reverse when proper gut health was achieved by the following:
- Only use antibiotics when truly needed.
- Consult with a credible naturopathic doctor first when you have acute illnesses.
- Don’t use products like ivermectin or grapefruit seed extract as these products destroy your gut’s friendly bacteria just as antibiotics do.
- Eat a low carbohydrate (organic only) diet.
Sugar and carbohydrates encourage yeast overgrowth and pesticides from non-organic food destroy friendly bacteria in your gut.
- Exercise regularly as exercise supports gut health.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water as dehydration causes multiple gut health issues.
- Chew your food thoroughly (at least thirty times) and eat in a slower relaxed manner.
- Visit a naturopathic doctor to be tested for food sensitivities and to have a stool test to identify yeast, pathogenic bacteria, beneficial bacteria, and parasites, and then follow the doctor’s advice on how to restore gut health naturally.
